Portrait of a Blue-Eyed Girl Curling Her Tongue

This is a portrait drawing of a blue-eyed girl curling her tongue. Multiple types of dry medium were used to create the initial drawing, which started as a rough pen sketch. Black marker was used to fill in shadows in the hair. Light blue paint pen was used for the eyes. A thick white paint marker creates highlights around her face, offset by the toned tan paper background. Colored pencils and oil pastels add subtle shading and color to her skin with emphasis on red and pink around the lips and tongue. A white gel pen was used for detailed highlights in the eyes, lips and tongue, which draws focus to those areas of her face. Dark blue and green oil pastels fill out more of the background along with the white paint marker to establish a chaotic, expressive style to the portrait drawing. The girl’s cool colored eyes contrast with warm colored lips and tongue as her gaze locks directly with the viewer.
