Portrait of a Stressed Woman

This artwork is a portrait drawing of a woman with a stressed look on her face. Black marker was used to sketch the initial face, hair and scarf around her neck. A gel pen was used to block in highlights that stand out from the 184 lb. toned tan paper. A black soft tip pen adds detail and subtle shadows to the hair, clothing and face. Colored pencils were used to add subtle shadows, color and depth to the skin and eyes. The color is confined to the skin, nose, eyes and lips to help maintain focus and attention on the woman’s expression. The overall portrait maintains a loosely sketched appearance with strong contrast tempered by the red and pink colored pencil against the neutral background.
